Week 5: The aspect of social media we were learning about this week was designing and presenting information effectively via social media. During our weekly lecture Shane showed many different software's which are useful when designing and presenting information such as Mind Meister, Plotagon, Powtoon, and Prezi. As part off our weekly tutorial we had to present a topic of our choice and present it on Prezi. The topic I chose was 'Skiing' as skiing is my favorite activity. As part of my presentation I displayed tips for beginners and tips on how to do tricks such as ski backwards. I also used videos to give my tips a visual aid. The image below shows the software of Prezi. The 'insert' tap at the top of the screen allow you to add a number of applicants to your presentation such as images, YouTube videos, graphs etc. Also the 'Customize' tab allows you to change the overall background of your presentation. You can also change the order of your slides and add more slides if needed.
The Image below is an example of one of my slides for this presentation. Notice there are only 5 lines on this slide with six or less words in each sentence. This is done as a method to ensure information is understood and portrayed correctly.
The image below is another example of slides I used in my presentation. However these slides contained videos to act as a visual aid to enhance the information being discussed.
Overall I found Prezi to be an excellent software to use and I will definitely use it in the future for presentations. I have also introduced it to a family member who as part of their jobs does many presentations and they have also found it a fantastic application for displaying information.

Week 4: During class this week we learnt about the concept of Social bookmarking. Social bookmarking is the use of bookmarks, sometimes accomanied by metadata descriptions, to represent organize, share, manage, and search for resources/ information online. Examples of bookmarking sites include Reddit, Stumbleupon, Digg, Diigo, etc. As part of our e-tutorial this week we created accounts for Pinterest and Diigo. Below is a screenshot of my Pinterest page in which I have created two new boards and labelled them Travel and Food. On my Travel board I added a pin of the dophin. In my food board I repinned an image of ice cream from another board and I also added a pin of pancakes to celebrate 'Pancake Tuesday'.
The second part of our e-tutorial included creating another account for another social bookmarking site, Diigo. As part of this I read an article and bookmarked it to my diigo account. Diigo has many features that make it different from other websites such as Pinterest. Using Diigo you can highlight information, take notes, take screenshots, do continous research and share information. Below is a screenshot of the Diigo page I created.

Week 2 :
Over the past three weeks in Social computing and Media we have learnt how to create apps. During our week two lab we worked on creating an app which was named 'Hellopur'. Whilst creating the app we added and image of a cat and the sound of a meow or a purr to add an realistic value to the app. Once completed tapping the tablet screen would making the cat meow as if you were actually petting the cat.
This is a screenshot of the App inventor website that allows us to create apps such as 'Hellopur' and what the app looked like when completed.
Week 3:
Also we have been creating a new app this week called 'Magic8ball'. Creating this app was a little more tricky then 'Hellopur'. Whitlst creating this app we also had to obtain an image of a magic8ball and a sound which this time was a 'tada' sounds. But also when creating this app we had to program answers into the app such as 'Ask again later' or 'Don't count on it'. Once these were programed we had to organize a sequence like the one seen in the image below.
